Seismic Oil Rig
Prestack Depth Specialist

Introduction:
Parallel Data Systems, (PDS), is a service company offering high performance and accurate 3D Pre-stack Depth Services and other imaging services (time migration and converted wave) to the oil and gas industry. We also provide solutions and consulting services to advanced high performance computing hardware and software infrastructures.

PDS was established in 1997 with one goal in mind:
"To provide high quality, full volume 3D Prestack Depth and Time Migration with fast turnaround and low cost."

We have seen our role as being the best in 3-D PreSDM and PreSTM in the industry from the onset. We have compared our work with other companies (oil companies in-house technology and 3-D PreSDM PreSTM service companies) in many real data projects, and we can proudly say that we have fulfilled our mission.

What We Have to Offer:
Ideally, companies would like to have their 3-D prestack Depth migration (PreSDM) or Prestack time migration (PreSTM) projects completed quickly, economically, and with the best quality. Unfortunately, the reality is that you either pay the higher costs and wait for a quality product, or you end up “getting what you paid for”. How can PDS offer the benefits of quality 3-D PreSDM/PreSTM without the tradeoffs?

  • Leader in 3-D Seismic Imaging technology:
    • Zhiming Li is the author of the famous Li’s Correction for one pass 3-D wave equation
    • We were the nucleus team for GSI’s (Geophysical Services Inc.) high quality 3D DMO, 3D Kirchhoff migration, and wave equation (fxy FD) migration. The GSI processing unit was profitable even in the worst year of industry from 1986 to 1988.
    • We have extensive experience in 3D pre-stack depth/time migration (velocity model, processing and interpretation) on both domestic and international projects.
  • Leader in Cluster Parallel for 3-D Seismic Processing:
The use of PC clusters in our industry is spreading rapidly. Today, if you were not using PC clusters technology, you would be considered behind. Our company, however, was the pioneer and the current leader in PC clusters.
    • We presented the first paper about “cluster parallel” in 1991’s SEG. We introduced this technology for the industry’s 3-D seismic processing, while others were still in either vector supercomputers, or SMP computers, or massive parallel systems.
    • We offered the first course in “cluster parallel” to the industry in Houston in 1992. We outlined the theories and techniques about cluster parallel for all seismic processing.
    • We have been awarded with “Best SEG/OTC Paper” in 1992 for our work in cluster parallel.
  • Commitment to fast turn around:
    • Using in the newest PC technology. While other companies in this industry are using Pentium 3 or AMD in their processing shops, we are using Pentium 4 with 2.5+ GHz chips.
    • Using fastest open stand networking. All our servers are connected with gigabit Ethernet.
    • Introducing USB2 for transferring huge amounts of 3-D seismic data between our office and our clients.
Because we are at the forefront of our industry in technology, we can afford to offer the best quality results without the high price tag and long turnaround time!

How we achieve our goal:

  • In order to achieve high quality full services 3-D PreSDM and PreSTM, we are not only efficient implemented the accurate algorithms, but also we demand a close working relationship with out clients’ G&G staff.
  • In order to provide fast turnaround to the projects, we have put together a large dedicated computer environment with the newest computers, networking, and modern software technology.
  • We believe in providing quality products with good price, and still profitable is essential to our clients. We control our cost by our know-how and commitment to the new technology.
